The four year old filly has already earned over $25,000 for owner  Whitney J. Zeringue. She was bred by Darlene Wahman & Jeff Wahman.

      7 year old  stakes placed Hammer the Bay, wired the field to win an allowance race at Lone Star. He is owned and trained by Darrell W. Bravenec and was bred by the  Haras Santa Maria de Araras S.A. Hammer the Bay was placed in the Frontier Utilities Turf Sprint Stakes at Sam Houston last year. He has earned over $127,000.

      LASSIE LYNN, won at Evangeline for owner/breeder Lee Young Farm. The 5 year old mare has earned over $108,000. And finally 3 year old filly SMILEY BRILEY got her nose in front where it counted at Louisiana Downs. She is owned by B:  Eugenia Thompson and was bred by Michelle LaVoice.

      Multiple stakes winner HEAVY ON THEMISTER, an amazing 8 year old gelding,  nailed his 12th win in 45 starts He was claimed out of his prior race and is already earning money for his new owner, Randy J. Stone, He was bred by T. J. Dickey & Rebecca Farm. His earnings now stand over $643,000.

      On the same day at Evangeline Downs. multiple stakes placed Win Lion Win took an allowance race at Evangeline Downs. He is owned by :Farm d'Allie Racing Stable and was bred by Rebecca Farm LLC. Win Lion Win is another wonderfully durable gelding. The 5 year old has made 22 starts and earned over $170,000.

      A trio of Louisiana-bred fillies worked an eighth-mile in :10 1/5 on Sunday to tie for the fastest time during the under tack show for the Equine Sales Company 2-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age Sale in Opelousas, Louisiana. Two of them were from Clear Creek stallions:

      Consigned by Pike Racing, agent, hip #28 is from the second crop of Custom for Carlos out of the winning Pollard’s Vision mare Stellar Vision, who is a half sister to Grade 3-placed runner Scarlet Starlet. Stellar Vision has one foal of racing age who has yet to race. WATCH VIDEO

      Hip #76, named Shamrock Star and consigned by Benchmark Training Center Inc., agent, is from the first crop of four-time Louisiana Horse of the Year Star Guitar out of the winning Eugene’s Third Son mare Indian Treaty, who also has one foal of racing age that has yet to race.       All graduates of the sale are eligible for the Equine Sales Derby and Equine Sales Oaks, which will be run next spring at Evangeline Downs for $75,000 apiece at 1 1/16 miles.       Partly Mocha was claimed by trainer Mike Maker lasst year at Saratoga and six year old races now for the Ramseys. He was an excellent claim having not been off the board since his claim. Today he added black type running a strong second in the Confucius Say Stakes at Charles Town. He has been specialist at sprinting on the turf but in the Confucious Says stretched out to 7 furlongs on the dirt. He has earned $310,532 with a lifetime record of 31-6-7-6.

      Appelbaum said an  attractive offering from Off the Hook is a daughter from the first crop of Louisiana-based sire Star Guitar, winner of 24 of 30 career starts and more than $1.7 million in earnings. The filly (Hip 1017) worked a quarter-mile in :20 4/5. “That filly is not just a Louisiana filly,” Appelbaum said, noting potential buyers should look at her track performance rather than pedigree. “She should be able to run anywhere successfully.”

      Sprint specialist JOCKAMO'S SONG by Half Ours followed up his last December stakes win in  Louisiana Champions Day Sprint with a 2016 allowance win and today a second stakes win in the Costa Rising S at the Fair Grounds. He raced well placed on the rail and then swung out to clear the field and kept his nose in front for the win on the Lousiana Derby undercard. He is owned by Dare To Dream Stable LLC (Michael Faber) and was bred by  Debbie Allen & David Allen. He has bankrolled over $161,000.

      Also on the Louisiana Derby undercard, CARMEN'S CATCHER, graduted in a MSW for owner/breeders Earl & Keith Hernandez.

      There are strong interconnections between the name of this race and its winner. The winner, the ultra-consistent millionaire SUNBEAN,  is owned by Clear Creek client, Evelyn Benoit of  Brittlyn Stable, Inc. Brittlyn Stable, Inc also raced millionaire STAR GUITAR for whom the race is named and who is standing at Clear Creek Stud. STAR GUITAR has first two year olds of 2016.

      In the Star Guitar S, SUNBEAN raced fowardly under restraint and then tipped out to clear the field for the win. His dam, the  prolific Lousiana stakes-producer X Strawdnair (by now deceased Clear Creek stallion Malagra) has a yearling filly by Star Guitar and foaled a colt by that stallion Feb. 1 - so the beat goes on...

She had fired a bullet in her last work and went off the favorite. She is trained by her co-owner Samuel Breaux. The second co-owner is David E, Citron and the filly was bred by  Colden R. Jones & Brian P. Jones. Watch for this one!
