2011 NEWS

12/23/11 - The appropriately named Second Lion became the second two year old winner for Lion Tamer. He broke well, dropped back then came wide to win in the slop at the Fair Grounds in his second start. He is a homebred for Sugarland Thoroughbreds LLC.

12/10/11 - Southern Dude, ran third in the $100,000
LOUISIANA CHAMPIONS DAY SPRINT S. at the Fair Grounds Race Course. Sent off the chalk, he came wide late, but cold not catch the leaders. He has 3 wins and a third from 5 starts and is puching $80,000 in earnings.

10/2/11- SOUTHERN DUDE, a 3 year old accredited LA Bred from LION TAMER's first crop has kept his undefeated streak intact by winning a $36,000 optional allowance at Hawthorne on Saturday. Southern Dude's first two wins came on synthetic tracks at Arlington Park and Presque Isle, but he handled the conventional dirt this time, taking over on cue at the top of the stretch and defeated older foes by four lengths in 1:10 2/5. Congratulations to trainer; Roger Brueggemann; owner Midwest Thoroughbreds, Inc.; breeders Summer Grove and Lemon Tree Farm; and jockey Florent Geroux. 9/24/11 - Lion Warrior c. 2, Lion Tamer - Shocking Tremor, by Mining came roaring wide from second to last to get up for third in the LOUISIANA STALLION S. This was his second start and he is still a maiden, but he has already earned black type for himself and his connections. He is owned by Daniel Family Farms LLC. and was bred by Becky Winemiller (La.).

9/8/11 - SOUTHERN DUDE, c. 3, out of Viva Vega, by Cobra King broke his maiden at Arlington Park in his first out winning by 1 3/4 lengths and earning a Beyer of 101. He remains undefeated even skipping a condition and taking a non winners of 2 allowance race at Presque Ilses Downs on the all weather surface. He pressed the pace out of the gate, assumed command and cruised to an easy win by almost 5 lengths. He ran the 6 furlongs in an impressive 1:09.2/5! Watch for this one!

Grade I millionaire, Lion Tamer, who stands at Clear Creek Stud in Folsom, Louisiana, was represented by his first winner from his first crop which are two-year-olds of this year. Liondrive, an accredited Louisiana bred colt by Lion Tamer out of Grand Slam mare Outta The Park, broke his maiden by a neck in a seven furlong turf event  in 1:23 3/5 at Belmont Park today, September 23. Liondrive was bred by Rebecca Farms, Inc., is owned by Thomas Amenta and Thomas Amenta II, and is trained by Tim Ice.

10/1/10 - Liondrive entered in G3 Pilgrim Stakes

Liondrive, the first winner from the first crop of G1 millionaire LION TAMER, is entered in the G3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park on Sunday. The one and one sixteenth mile turf event is a qualifying race for the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Stakes.
